Luke 10:25-37
The parable of the Good Samaritan is so well known that even people who know nothing of the Bible use the term to describe someone who has shown mercy and compassion to a stranger. Interestingly, what we call the parable of the Good Samaritan starts out as a question about what is required for eternal life. The initial question is not about mercy, compassion or even who we should treat with mercy and compassion. The initial question is the “big one” – how do you gain eternal life and go to heaven?
